Alfredo Valente was a prominent American artist, born in New York City in 1937. He was a leading figure in the abstract expressionist movement, which emerged in the 1940s and 1950s. Valente's work was characterized by its bold use of color, abstract shapes, and powerful emotional content. His paintings often conveyed a sense of struggle and epiphany, and were celebrated for their ability to evoke strong emotions in viewers. Valente studied at the Art Students League of New York and later at the Pratt Institute. He began his career as a commercial artist, but soon turned to fine art, focusing on abstract expressionism.
